Message for U.S. Citizens: Outreach to U.S. Citizens in Tamarindo and surrounding areas

The Consular Section at the U.S.  Embassy San José is pleased to announce an upcoming Consular Outreach event in Tamarindo on Tuesday, November 17, 2015.  Embassy staff will be available to accept adult passport renewals and to perform notarial services.

WHEN: Tuesday, November 17, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

WHERE: Best Western Tamarindo Vista Villas, near the pool

If you plan to request a service, please RSVP to  Space is limited.

Passport Renewals: To be eligible, you must present a 10-year passport that is valid or has expired less than 5 years ago.  (No applications for lost or stolen passports, no passports for minors under 16 years old.)  You will need to submit a DS-82 form and a 2”-by-2” passport photo with a white background.  The price is 59,900 colones. 

Notarial Services: The presence of the person requesting the notary and legal proof of identity are required.  The price is 27,200 colones per seal.

All payments must be in colones.  Exact change is greatly appreciated.  Sorry, we can’t take dollars.

We will also accept applications for replacement Social Security cards, and will have informational material on Federal Benefits for Veterans, Dependents, and Survivors.
